Ways to Mentally Prepare for Your Day

Long days at work can be tough especially if the job is demanding. There are several steps you can take to make sure that you are mentally prepared for your workday.

  • Get a good night’s rest – although sleep requirements vary from person to person, most adults need about 7-9 hours of rest to function at their best.
  • Eat a hearty breakfast – to refuel and re-energize from a full night’s rest, eat a nutrient-filled breakfast that will satisfy you until lunchtime.
  • Plan ahead – try to make your lunch, iron your clothes, or any other to-do’s the night before. Pre-planning will help maximize your time in the morning and decrease the risk of having to rush to work.
  • Think Positive – whether it be praying, meditating, or reciting motivational quotes, it’s important to fill your mind with positivity. Your mindstate can have a profound effect on how you handle situations at work.

In the field of nursing where the days are long and the duties are great, being mentally prepared for your day can go a long way!
